Bye bye Gyeongsan per-school (경산 유치원) – So many complains.

Finally, I changed my son’s school.
Yesterday, finally I took my son back to 어린이 칩 (early child education, play group). I was exhausted listening complains about my son every day by his class teachers through my wife. They complain almost every day. He is just 3 years old (born in late 2009). He used to go school at around 10 o’clock and comeback around 6. Yes, he is slightly active, but listens to the elders. He understands Korean.

Why they used to complain? Here is the reason. According to the school principal one child who came with him after graduating from the same play group, told her mother for some unknown reason that she will not go to the same kindergarten with my son. Her mother called school and ask to the principal of the kindergarten whether my son is in the same class. Once, she knew that my son and her daughter is in the same class she took her daughter to another school. (However, when my wife called that lady for apologies, if she really took her daughter because of my son, she said, that’s not the reason at all. She said, because the number of students in the new school is less she admitted her in that school.)

After this incident, the principal and the class teachers were after my son. Complains were like, he throws toys/chopsticks, he doesn’t know how to use chopsticks, he beats other fellows or sometimes the teacher, he is depressed, and so on. Many times they suggested to give more time to him. In fact, his mother takes care of him after 6 pm to the next morning. I also take him to the playground and for outing timely.

Actually, my wife is a graduate student. She has to work in the lab. Most of the students spend their most of the time in the lab, so she also wanted to be in the lab until 6 pm. But our son’s school asked the department whether there is any class after 5 pm. Yes, officially there may not be any class after 5 pm, but she has a class until 9 pm. Some professor, they change time unofficially. The school wanted to get the stamped document from the school. They also called my son’s previous school and enquire about his behavior.

I wanted to send him in the 유치원 (pre-school) desperately because he used to say, I have already graduated the 어린이 칩 and now I wanna go to 유치원 in Korean (어린이칩 졸업했짢아, 이제 유치원 갈레).

I selected this pre-school because it’s near by my house. But, because they complained so much, finally I changed his school. Now, he is back to the 어린이 칩 again. Anyways, he is happy there. The owner/principal speaks in English, which is a great advantage to my wife. Also, she seems kind and generous. The principal’s son and daughter also study in the same 어린이 칩. They have small playground and whole building used as a 어린이 칩. New 어린이 칩’s van comes in the morning and evening. I asked whether he liked the school, he said that’s fine.

Hope he’ll enjoy his entire year there!!   Read more...

A tour to Yeosu (여수) and Namhae (남해).

A great culture here in Korea, I like the most, is MT (엠티) in the universities/works/communities/clubs etc. The full form of MT is membership training. Most probably, this is the old culture here to go to MT to become closer to the members in universities' labs/works/communities/clubs. I have been participating in MT every year since I came to Korea. It’s already straight eighth consecutive year.

Big O show (Main attraction of Yeosu Expo 2012)

Although there is no training (literally), every research lab, or club in the school or company organizes this outing called MT. I visited most of the provinces in Korea because of MT programs.

Namhae to Yeosu cruse (night view).

This month, we have been to Yeosu, where an ambitious expo is going on. It’s a good place to visit.

Namhe to Yeosu cruse (day view)

It’s very small area southern part of Korea mainland. This time, we went through Namhae, which is very close to Yeosu. Our intention was to visit both places. So, we went to Name first and went to Yeosu by small cruse.

Amsu stones of Gacheon in Namhae.

Many infrastructures are developed in Yeosu by several big Korean companies, including Samsung, Lotte, Posco etc. We observed there for several hours. At evening we watched the main attraction called big O show and came back to Namhae. Next day we went for sightseeing in Namhae.

Namhae is a great place, mountain starts right after the sea shore. There is a place called German village (독일마울). The houses built there are German style. As I heard from our guide, the returned Korean migrant workers from Germany built the houses there and live there. It’s quiet and calm place.

This is all this year’s MT.

End of one journey and start of another...

Today is the final day to submit graduate thesis in the graduate office. After submitting this, the formalities of all the graduation is finished. I need to wait to get convocation day to get the degree. I am really happy that I have finished the student life. Actually, it is not the end of student life, but it is the starting point of another learning period, which is as same as student life. There are also several exams and fear to fail, joy to pass, and many occasions of happy and sad.

I met a MS student (정정은), who was really happy after submitting his graduate thesis. Then, I realized that Oh, I have also finished my study today!! Because of the similar workload as before, I didn't actually realized before. Many things are going simultaneously. I need to submit a journal paper after revision, one paper is accepted the day before yesterday, need to revise and submit camera ready version. We are organizing a special session, I need to manage everything, from CFP to paper allocation to the reviewers and result. I have to prepare a paper for the conference as well. Because of all these work load, I felt the same as it was before. Not only that, I have additional work loads now. I have to prepare for the next semester's classes. I have to help my wife with the baby, she wants to study.

Anyways, there is a kind of excitement inside me. I am waiting for the convocation day. My mom is coming, she was also desperately waiting for my graduation. She might have prey her god countless times, wishing my successful graduation. Also, my wish to be with her and to show her the place I lived more than 8 years, may come true at that time. My father in heaven may be happy seeing this from the heaven. My family members already wished me congratulations.

I need to send an email to everybody, who have helped me in this journey. Many people contributed. It was a very very long journey, almost impossible without the help of those kind people. Some helped financially, some morally. Although, those are the irreplaceable contributions, I cannot forget their contributions in entire my life. Nevertheless, I cannot write all the people here, however, some of the great contributors in my life are Late Shree Gopal Prasad Joshi, Ms. Dhan Kumari Joshi, Ms. Dibeshwori Joshi, Ms. Bisheshwori Upreti, Mr. Rabindranath Banarji, Mr. Naveen Shrestha, Mr. Sachchidananda Joshi, Mr. Chandra Prasad Joshi (uncle), Mr. Luxman Giri, Mr. Sambhu Rai, Mr. Prem Raj Joshi, Ms. Pratima Joshi, Mr. Ganesh Prasad Joshi, Ms. Srijana Joshi, Madhusudan Joshi, Janardan joshi, Sheela Upreti, Hari Prasad Joshi, I don't remember the name, but two persons (one is the owner of the restaurant and another is a owner of the electronic repair center) from Gatter Kailash, Jamrudpur, Delhi, India. Some inspirers are Mr. Shankar Chaudhary, Mr. Tek Raj Ojha, Mr. Luxman Giri, Prof. Sasidhar Ram Joshi, Ms. Gita Joshi (Bhandari), Mr. Janak Raj Pant, Korea Research Foundetion (KRF), ITSP (IT Scholarship Program) by IITA, Mr. Gopal Tandukar, Mr. Surj Man Singh, Prof. CW Lee, Prof. SW Kim, nec (Nepal Engineering College), KDBC, KEC, MFCI, then Deparment of Land Revenue, Ministry of Land Information and Communication, LISP, Rajendra Rajopadhaya, MCRPEC University, Ajou University, Yeungnam University, LBEF, Chirayu Joshi, friends and family members...

eLong: An example of a good professionalism in the customer service!!

I traveled to China last month, 2011-9-22 ~ 2011-9-27. I booked a room via eLong. One of my Chinese friends recommended this site to me to book the room. Since, I was traveling to small city (NOT really small though, but not like Beijing or Shanghai either), I prepared everything from map from airport to the hotel.

One PhD student who was also came to attend the same conference WiCOM 2011, helped me to get the hotel. When I arrived at hotel counter, the receptionist told me that they didn't get any email (or booking information) from eLong. Since, they couldn't speak in English, it was really hard time to communicate with them. Anyhow I contacted my friend in another city and he talked with the ladies in the hotel. They provided me another room.
After I get into my room, I wrote a complain to eLong customer service. They prompt reply me. They also tried to contact me via. phone, however the phone in the room was broken. So, I couldn't contact via. phone.
After several email, they told me that they gonna reimburse the amount I paid more for the room. Actually, I booked the hotel 2 months before through eLong.com and got the room in discount rate. I paid 198 CNY, but I have booked in 138 CNY.
I gave my friend's a/c number in China to get the money. They send the money after few days.
I don't know, what's there problem and why can't they provide the room when I arrived on time in the hotel. But, I appreciate the professionalism they showed.
They promptly took action, they email reply was really quick and even they called hotel management and me (although, I couldn't received the call).
I wrote this appreciation letter to eLong.com

Hi eLong!!

I received the reimbursed amount 240CNY.
I found a good professionalism in the customer service that I admire and respect.
I was really pleased with the very quick customer service.
I'll certainly recommend eLong to my colleagues and friends.
Good luck with the future of your company.

Head & Shoulders Anti-dandruff Shampoo, Clinic all clear or Nizoral ?

Which anti-dandruff shampoo is good, Head & Shoulders, Clinic all clear or Nizoral ?

I worried more not because of dandruff but because of loosing hair. My hair fall started after I did practical on my head with various shampoos. I am a victim of these international brand. If I had a capacity, I would have sued these brands. Unfortunately, I am not in that condition.

My answer is NONE of the above works for dandruff. It's my more than 15 years' experience. They just bluff and deceive. They have only marketing plan to sell their fake products. I am a victim of their false scheme and hoax. All these products with fancy advertisements are just their marketing scandal.

Believe me, I used Head & Shoulders for more than 5 years but there was no improvement. Then I have tried Clinic all clear, which cleared all of my hair, but not the dandruffs. After started loosing my hair, I stopped using Clinic all clear and started Nizoral. Its been 2 years and half, I am using Nizoral, it only accelerated loosing hair but did not cure dandruffs. Yes, after taking shower with these shampoos dandruffs disappear for few hours but after that it is the same.

I take shower everyday, no matter it's winter or summer. I follow the instruction as written in the user's manual or as advised by the shopkeeper.

There is one funny story. One day when I arrived at home, a home marketing man was showing some stuffs to my family. He was showing a homeopathic shampoo and saying that he can give money back guarantee, if dandruffs is not cured. When I checked the shampoo, it's the same I used couple of months before. I went to my bathroom and took the bottle and ask him to pay back. lol. Then he changed his words and said he can guarantee the things he sold and he'll talk to his office and blah blah. Just after he saw the same shampoo there he left with crafty smile.

Because, those multinational shampoos including some homeopathic shampoos couldnt cure my dandruffs, I have used several home remedy. Whenever I talked about dandruffs with the people known to me if they advised something different than I have previously used, I followed them.

Following are the some examples of home remedy I used to get rid of dandruffs:

  • Lemon
  • Lime
  • Amla (Indian gooseberry)
  • Tulsi (Ocimum tenuiflorum)
  • Curd
  • Eggs
  • Honey
  • Etc.

After experience all these, I can say that dandruff can not be removed completely with above remedy as well. I followed several ways as the advisor instructed for months if not years.

I visited many doctors to get advice about hair loss. They told me one of the main reasons of hair losses is dandruff. Even I realized that myself.

My conclusion after using these multinational brands for several years is dandruff cause hair loss. BUT, Head & Shoulders, Clinic all clear or Nizoral CANNOT cure dandruff as they claim.

Finally, I shaved my hair. Now I have very less or no dandruffs. Although, I cannot get my lost hair back, I am happy.
